Dear Clients,
each day brings new regulations and developments. In brief, we want to summarize the situation.
MLE GERMANY
So far, no staff of MLE Germany has been diagnosed as “positive”. Still, we are prepared: Some colleagues are working from home, already. Others are equipped to work from home on immediate notice. From 5 office locations we are working on a central server. Access from home is quickly installed through secure VPN tunnels.
We have an open environment. Colleagues can take over e-mail correspondence and services on shortest notice. Due to vacation or sickness we are used to cross-offices internal support.
And we all share the common goal: To serve you as best as we can !
Delays / Capacity Shortage
Governmental Protection Decisions cause severe delays. As you may have heard in the media: The newly re-instated border controls to Poland have resulted in a congestion line of 52 KM at one single border crossing in Görlitz. These are incalculable delays and the truck capacity is missing for other trucking jobs, also inside Germany. This truck shortage leads to delayed pickups, causes storage or other cost and creates a strong jump in spot prices.
The reduction in overseas capacities has reached unprecedented circumstances: Peak Season Surcharges in seafreight or absurd rates of up to Euro 25 / KG in airfreight – if you get a booking at all – of course, without any guarantees of loading to plane / vessel.
Logistics Processes are no longer predictable. And the more logistics personnel is infected, the worse the situation. Our partners have taken similar protection measures like you and us.
Additional Cost / Liabilities
For nearly every shipment extra cost do / will occur – sometimes even 2 or 3 positions for the same shipment (i.e. storage at port, higher delivery cost and waiting times). We try to inform you about those as quickly as we can.
Sometimes you have strict delivery schedules. These, definitely, cannot be held anymore. Please inform your clients to react flexibly and advance the start of the transportation. We try to keep you updated – often, though, even the truck driver has no idea when he is allowed/able to deliver.
Kindly understand, that neither we nor our partners have any influence on the circumstances and cannot accept any liability for delays or extra cost. We do our utmost to mitigate the damage to you and inform you, as much as possible, about the execution of your orders.
This is a challenging time. Let’s cooperate closely to keep the supplies running as best as possible.
Stay healthy, Your MLE Team
